Breaking: A commuter bus carrying 18 people overturned at the NJ Turnpike/Garden State Parkway interchange in Woodbridge Township.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — In what appears to be one of the most serious accidents of the Feb. 12 snowstorm so far, a bus has overturned at the Garden State Parkway/NJ Turnpike interchange in Woodbridge Township.

The bus overturned on its side just past the toll booth as it was coming off the Parkway, NJ State Police confirmed to Patch. The bus rolled over on its side in the ramp to the truck lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike northbound. The accident happened just past 4:30 p.m. today at Interchange 11.

There were 18 occupants on the bus and all have been taken to area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries, Trooper Alejandro Goez said.

It is not an NJ Transit bus; the bus is run by Alliance Transportation. Trooper Goez said it is still being investigated if the snow and icy road conditions were the culprit. The truck lane to the Turnpike north is currently closed.
