Cars Pulled Over On Snowy NJ Turnpike In Woodbridge
Breaking: New Jersey State Police are reporting 159 car crashes and nearly 300 calls for motorist aid in Thursday's whiteout snowstorm.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — New Jersey State Police are reporting numerous car crashes and nearly 300 calls for motorist aid so far in Thursday's whiteout snowstorm.
Since midnight last night, the New Jersey State Police have responded to 159 motor vehicle crashes and 285 calls for motorist aid, said Sgt. Lawrence Peel. And that's only on the major highways patrolled by State Police. Motorist aid can include anything from spinouts, flat tires to mechanical breakdowns, etc.
"We do see cars pulled over on the Turnpike waiting for plows to get through," he said.

As of 10:22 a.m., there's an accident and a jack-knifed tractor trailer on the southbound Turnpike near Exit 9 (New Brunswick-Edison area). The left lane is blocked. As of 10:44 a.m., there's an accident on the southbound lanes near Exit 10. The right lane is blocked.
Outside of Edison, there is a jack-knifed tractor trailer on the Turnpike south near Exit 8A in Monroe, which is blocking the ramp. On the northbound Turnpike, there's a jack-knifed tractor trailer near Exit 12 in Carteret. The right lane is blocked.
