Carteret, Edison CVS Now Have The Coronavirus Vaccine
It is not immediately known how CVS locations were chosen, and why the CVS on Main Street in Woodbridge was not chosen to get the vaccine.
WOODBRIDGE, NJ — CVS stores in Carteret, Edison, Metuchen and Middlesex borough are part of the more than 100 CVS locations in New Jersey that now have the coronavirus vaccine, the company announced Friday.
The CVS on Main Street in Woodbridge was not chosen to receive the vaccine.
"In regard to locations, as part of the Federal Pharmacy Program, CVS Health has been allocated a limited amount of vaccine supply for the 17 states that have currently been announced. Specific CVS Pharmacy locations within these 17 states have been chosen based on population density and demographics including the CDC’s Social Vulnerability Index, with the goal of reaching the most in-need populations," said Tara Berson, a CVS spokeswoman. "We also selected locations with layouts best suited for setting up vaccination clinics and the ability to safely manage social distancing within our stores. As more vaccine supply becomes available, we expect our pharmacies to be activated in more states and to add more locations within each state."

CVS said on its website they are offering Johnson & Johnson's single-shot vaccine, which just started being delivered to New Jersey this week after it got emergency FDA approval last Friday. However, Berson said if you book an appointment you will get either the Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson shot, depending on availability. Most pharmacies in the U.S. only carry one type of vaccine.
Today's news is an expansion: In early February, only 27 CVS pharmacies across New Jersey had the vaccine.
The vaccine is open to those 65+, teachers K-12, daycare and preschool worker and staff, people age 16+ with medical conditions, first responders including law enforcement and fire professionals and all heathcare workers, residents and staff of long-term and congregate care. You must live, work or study in New Jersey.
