Carteret Tax Collector Employee Arrested
A former Carteret borough tax department employee was arrested Monday and charged with falsifying and tampering with tax records.
CARTERET, NJ — A former Carteret borough tax department employee was arrested this week and charged with falsifying and tampering with tax records, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone.
Toni Johnson, 38, of Brick was arrested Monday and charged with one count of third-degree tampering with public records, one count of fourth-degree falsifying public records and one count of second-degree computer theft.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor said Johnson, while employed with the tax collection office for the town of Carteret, illegally waived and removed fees from the department’s computer system.
