An 89-year-old driver accidentally stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brakes and crashed into a Route 1 store in Woodbridge, police say

An 89-year-old driver accidentally stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brakes and crashed into a Route 1 store Thursday morning in Woodbridge, police said.
The woman, from the Colonia section of town, applied pressure to the gas pedal and her vehicle hit entered the Route 1 south building around 10:45 a.m., said Capt. Roy Hoppock.
The car hit a common wall that separates the Batteries Plus Bulbs store and the Destination Maternity store, he said.

Her 91-year-old husband was a passenger in the vehicle, police said.
No one was injured. The driver refused medical treatment.

Authorities are still working to determine the extent of damage to the building. Staff from the Township Building Department responded to inspect the damage.
