Woodbridge High Track Star Recruited To Division II College
Catherine Catipay achieved two-time All-American in relays for Woodbridge High School and won 2019 Greater Middlesex Conference honors.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A senior at Woodbridge High School was recruited to compete in Division II track & field at Felician University.
Catherine Catipay signed her National Letter of Intent Tuesday to continue her track & field career at Felician University. She is the first scholarship athlete recruited by Felician head women's coach Anthony Scannella to the track & field program.
Felician is a Catholic Franciscan University with campuses in Rutherford and Lodi.

Catipay, 5'3," is primarily a middle-distance runner and hurdler. She achieved two-time All-American in relays for Woodbridge High School at the New Balance National Outdoor Championships. In 2018, she helped the Barrons win both indoor and outdoor North 2 Group III sectional championships. She earned the 2019 Greater Middlesex Conference honors in the outdoor 3x400-meter hurdles.
Catipay owns outdoor personal bests of 58.3 seconds in the 400-meter run, 2:20.00 in the 800-meter run and 1:04.59 in the 400-meter hurdles. All three figures would be Felician records.

Catipay also intends to join the Golden Falcons' women's cross-country team and plans to major in nursing.
"Catherine will enter Felician with the résumé to make an impact in our conference right away," Scannella said. "Her current times would rank her in the top three in the CACC in three events with her senior high-school season still to come. She will also help our relays and be a part of our regionally-ranked cross-country program."
The Felician Golden Falcons are members of NCAA Division II and compete in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). They are coming off a tie for sixth place in the 2019 CACC Championship meet, a program record.
