WOODBRIDGE, NJ - A man was hit and killed by an NJ Transit train early Thursday morning near the Woodbridge station.
The man was struck by the train at 12:19 a.m. Thursday near the Woodbridge station off Main Street. He was trespassing on the tracks, NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith told Patch. There were no passengers on the train that hit him, which was moving from a maintenance facility in Kearny to Long Branch along the North Jersey Coast Line. Service between Rahway and South Amboy was suspended after his death last night, but resumed for the Thursday morning rush with no delays.
Stay tuned for updates on this story; the identity of the man has not been released yet and remains under investigation. Smith said NJ Transit would likely release his identity later Thursday.
