Man Threatened Conductor On North Jersey Coast Train, Cops Say

PERTH AMBOY, NJ — NJ Transit police say this man threatened a conductor on the North Jersey Coast Line with a pair of scissors this past Friday, May 3 at the Perth Amboy train station.

Prudencio Cruz, 65, of Fanwood, was arrested Sunday. Police say the that on Friday he brandished scissors and threatened a conductor as the train pulled into the Perth Amboy station. He threatened to harm the conductor before fleeing on foot. The conductor was not injured.

New Jersey Transit police were notified and the conductor shared a photo of the suspect on social media. An NJ Transit employee in Hoboken recognized the man, alerted New Jersey Transit Police and the arrest was made.

He was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
