Middlesex Co. Remains One Of NJ's COVID Hotspots: See Town Totals
As of Friday, Middlesex is logging among the highest numbers of new COVID cases in the state.
MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — Middlesex County remains a COVID hotspot in the state, along with Essex and Passaic counties, for high levels of COVID cases and transmission.
All three of those counties are recording between 318 – 442 new PCR-positive COVID tests a day, according to the state Dept. of Health's COVID dashboard. Middlesex County reported 395 new cases on Friday, March 19, about the same number of new cases as recorded the Friday before, on March 12.
For comparison, some counties, such as Hunterdon, Sussex and even Mercer, are reporting just 20-40 new cases a day in March.

Bergen County has confirmed the most COVID cases so far (about 75,000), follow by Middlesex County (about 73,000 cases) to date.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 75,228 total cases in Middlesex County and 1,886 total deaths.

The disease’s impact is reflected in the state Department of Health's most recent "COVID-19 Activity Level Report," which is issued weekly. The most recent report, released March 13 says Middlesex County is in the orange zone, for moderate spread.
If the county is in the "orange" zone, it means it has a rate of 10 to 25 cases per 100,000 people. “Yellow” means the county has a rate 1 to 10 cases per 100,000 people.
