New Commercial And Retail Center Planned For Avenel Section of Woodbridge

A new commercial and retail center is planned for Route 1 north in the Avenel section of Woodbridge.

According to the township:

Mayor John E. McCormac, Woodbridge Redevelopment Agency and Hotels Unlimited, Inc. recently held a ceremony to announce the start of construction of a new commercial/retail center along the business corridor on that highway.

As part of the project a long-standing, abandoned commercial property at 898 Route 1 north is being demolished.

That abandoned property is next to the Holiday Inn Express.

Hotels Unlimited, Inc. plans to invest more than $2 million to add 30 new hotel rooms to the Holiday Inn Express and develop a restaurant and other commercial/retail space there.
