It is currently $15 per day and $75 per season to park at Sandy Hook. For over-sized vehicles it is $30 per day and $150 per season. Fees are collected between Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fees are only collected for beach parking lots, not for visitors to Fort Hancock or the Sandy Hook lighthouse. Sandy Hook charges per vehicle, not per person, and that would not change in 2017. Visitors with Senior or Access Passes would be charged half price for parking, as they are currently.

According to federal law, 80% of the revenue collected from parking and all other fees at Gateway remains in the park.

"The money from the parking fees will help improve our visitor facilities and services," said Gateway Superintendent Jen Nersesian. Some of the improvements at the park she cited include rehabilitated campgrounds, expanding the docking facility at Sandy Hook; path paving; rehabilitating the Sandy Hook lighthouse and adding a webcam at the lighthouse.
