PERTH AMBOY, NJ — Even though Wednesday evening's thunderstorm has come and passed, stories are still coming out of people having to be rescued throughout Middlesex County.
In Perth Amboy, this video surfaced that shows people stranded on top of their cars on flooded New Brunswick Avenue Wednesday evening, August 7. The video was taken by Perth Amboy police.
Two people had to be rescued from cars on New Brunswick Avenue, according to the Perth Amboy fire department, a professional fire department. Witnesses said this was flash flooding that occurred suddenly and without warning.

Also in Perth Amboy, outer State Street flooded Wednesday night and two vehicles were stuck in water. However, those two people were able to walk through the water from their cars with minor assistance.
These were hardly isolated incidents: In Woodbridge, a driver had to be rescued after their car got stuck in floodwater under the Avenel Street railroad underpass. Another vehicle was stranded at Homestead and Yardley avenues, MyCentralJersey reported.

Four people had to be saved from cars stranded in water at Rt. 18 and Tices Lane in East Brunswick at 5:30 p.m. And at 5:50 p.m., several cars got stuck in flash flooding at Rt. 35 and Chevalier Avenue in South Brunswick.
In South Brunswick, one home was struck by lightning.
Roads were flooded at Rt. 130 and Fresh Ponds Road, Rt. 1 at Promenade Blvd., Summerfield Blvd. near Larkspur Drive and Constable Road by Richford Road, said South Brunswick police.
In South River, Reid Street between Main Street and Dailey's Pond Park was closed due to flooding, as were numerous other streets. In Sayreville, several roads were flooded and drivers were warned by police to stay inside.
