SOUTH AMBOY, NJ — A developer wants to turn the former location of Delilah's Den strip club in South Amboy into 31 town homes.

A Red Bank developer named JohnRose FM LLC submitted an application before the South Amboy Planning Board to build a townhouse complex at 3630 and 3640 Highway 35, according to a copy of the proposal obtained by Patch. The town of South Amboy has not yet approved his proposal.

For decades, this was the location of Delilah's Den strip club, which has since closed and the building that housed Delilah's was torn down. That address is currently an empty lot.

The developer seeks to build three-story town homes on that lot, including 78 parking spaces for residents. The town homes would be spread across four buildings: Three buildings will be 6,720 square feet, and one will be 5,520 square feet. The buildings will also be forty feet tall (three stories), which is much taller than any existing property in that area, commercial or residential.

The proposal is scheduled to be heard by the South Amboy Planning Board at their next meeting on May 26. However there are three other applications that night, so this application has of possibility of not being heard at the May 26 meeting.
