The Weed Wacker That Helped Two Neighbors Fall In Love

"I was fighting the urge to throw it in the street when suddenly, my neighbor strolled over with a smile on his face."

For this month's Love In A Small Town feature, we asked Patch readers to tell us the story behind their romantic chance encounters. This is Laura Scioscia's story:

“After 10 years of looking on and off, I finally found the house of my dreams and moved to Fords. I went from a condo to a house and had new responsibilities and machines such as a lawn mower and weed wacker.

I was out front ‘trying’ to use my new weed wacker which would not start. I kept pulling and pulling on that cord. I was fighting the urge to throw it in the street in front of the first truck when suddenly, my neighbor across the street strolled over with a smile on his face. He helped me to get it started, tried to leave, and it died again. He helped me again.

That winter with lots of major snow storms, we were outside and he helped me again with a gazebo that collapsed in the snow. A few months later, my mother came home from the hospital and I needed help unloading a hospital bed from the truck. He helped me again, even helping me set it up.

Every time I needed help, he came to my rescue and we became better and better friends until eventually, we fell in love! We got married on June 29, 2013. Little did I know that when I found the house of my dreams, I would also find the man of my dreams!”
