Update: What To Expect In Woodbridge's First Snowstorm Of Season

The Woodbridge senior/youth centers, the library and Club at Woodbridge will all close at noon Wednesday. Plus, Woodbridge's best sledding!

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Woodbridge is preparing to receive up to eight to twelve inches of what the National Weather Service calls "wet, heavy snow," with the heaviest accumulations predicted from 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through 5:00 a.m. on Thursday.

It is already planned that Woodbridge schools will have a snow day on Thursday, even though all students are already learning virtually from home. This is because many students (and teachers) are expected to lose power on Thursday, and also because many teachers come in and teach virtually from their classrooms. Woodbridge superintendent Bob Zega said he did not want to risk having teachers drive on the roads.

Woodbridge Twp. has been readying its fleet of plow trucks and will begin brining the streets overnight on Tuesday night. The town starts plowing once there are at least two inches of snow on the streets.

DPW will concentrate plowing on primary roads first, followed by secondary roads and then cul-de-sacs and dead ends. Woodbridge does not plow state and county highways.

The Woodbridge Township Senior and Youth Centers, the Main Library and branch libraries, the Woodbridge Community Center and the Club at Woodbridge will all close at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

If you live on a Snow Emergency Route, you have to keep your car off the street to keep in open for plowing for 24-36 hours beyond the end of the storm. (See if you live on a snow emergency route: www.twp.woodbridge.nj.us).

Residents are encouraged to park cars in driveways and off streets wherever possible in a storm.
