WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Woodbridge made the decision to cancel its 2021 St. Patrick's Day parade, saying the continued threat of coronavirus and risk of large crowds gathering is just too great.
The Woodbridge St. Patrick's Day parade is one of the largest in the state, and attracts thousands to the town. Woodbridge did hold its 2020 parade on March 8 last year, just days before the state went into lockdown, and large-scale events of this kind were discouraged.
In 2021, the celebration will be much quieter, with the American Irish Association of Woodbridge hosting the symbolic raising of the National Flag of Ireland and a rendition of the Irish National Anthem to the salute of traditional Irish bagpipes.
