Woodbridge Gets Grants To Repave Blair Road, Woodbridge Avenue

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Woodbridge and Middlesex County received multiple state grants this week to repave roads in the area that are main trucking thoroughfares.

The grants were given out by the state Department of Transportation, and they were given to New Jersey towns that see a large amount of truck traffic.

The roads are:

• Woodbridge: Repaving of Blair Road Total cost of road work: $912,000 State DOT grant: $775,000
• Carteret: Truck route improvements to Federal Blvd. and Blair Road $1.45 million state DOT grant. Total cost of project: $2.2 million
• Edison Twp.: Improvements to Woodbridge Avenue (CR 514) & Mill Road (CR 667) in Edison Twp. Basic truck safety improvements. Total cost of project: $11 million Grant: $4 million
• New Brunswick: Paving: Jules Lane Roadway Improvements Total cost of road work: $387,827 Grant $300,000
• Old Bridge: Repaving of Perrine Road and Old Water Works Road Total cost: $1 million Grant: $900,000

It is not yet known when the work will begin.

“Having safe truck routes to efficiently move goods to and from New Jersey’s seaports, airports, warehouses and rail yards is integral to our state and regional economy,” NJDOT Commissioner Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti said. “Our roads and bridges carry a tremendous amount of commercial truck traffic every day and we are making the investments necessary to ensure the safety of our customers and communities alike.”
