Woodbridge Man Charged With Hindering Apprehension, Cops Say

The Woodbridge man was one of three men arrested in Holmdel on hindering apprehension charges.

Holmdel police arrested a motorcyclist who they say fled from a motor vehicle stop, lost control of his bike, and then hid in a Middletown yard.

Police also arrested two other men from Eatontown and Woodbridge on hindering apprehension charges.

The incident began around 6:20 p.m. Sept. 17, on Red Hill Road in Holmdel when Patrolman Michael Moore tried to pull Steven J. Hopkins over.

Hopkins fled, then lost control of the motorcycle as he drove it off­-road in a wooded area behind the Target store on Palmer Avenue.

With help from Hazlet and Middletown police, officers found Hopkins hiding in a yard on Middlewood Road in Middletown.

Hopkins, 24, of Steven Avenue, Tinton Falls, was charged with eluding, obstruction and hindering apprehension.

Two other men, Justin D. McCullough, 26, of Demorest Avenue, in the Avenel section of Woodbridge and Tan V. Ngo, 27, of Stoneyhill Road, Eatontown, were both charged with hindering apprehension.

McCullough was also issued motor vehicle summonses, while Ngo was also charged with drug offenses.
