Woodbridge Man Killed In Crash After Failing To Stop For Police
Woodbridge Police tried to pull Odean Cummings, 29, over and he instead accelerated, according to the New Jersey Attorney General.
WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A local Woodbridge man has now been identified as the motorcyclist who was killed last Wednesday morning in this Rt. 1 crash.
He was identified as Odean Cummings, 29, of Woodbridge.
He was killed just past 10 a.m. June 16, after Woodbridge Township police officers first tried to pull over and he instead accelerated, according to the New Jersey Attorney General's office.

The police officers who attempted to stop him are Officer Marco Bruno, who was driving a marked Woodbridge patrol car, and Officer Connor Watters, a passenger in the police vehicle.
The accident occurred in broad daylight, shortly before 10 a.m. on June 16 in the northbound lanes of Route 1 at Randolph Avenue in Woodbridge.

Officer Bruno turned on his police lights in an attempt to make a traffic stop of Cummings.
Cummings accelerated, said the AG. Officer Bruno then deactivated his emergency lights
Cummings continued northbound on his motorcycle and was involved in an accident in which he was struck by a truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 10:01 a.m.
No further information is being released at this time, said the Attorney General.
Because the fatal crash occurred during an encounter with a law enforcement officer on duty, the NJ Attorney General's Office is investigating the case.
