Woodbridge Men Tried To Sell Stolen Property On Craigslist, Police Say

State Police arrested two Woodbridge men who they say tried to sell stolen property on Craigslist.

State Police arrested two Woodbridge men who they say tried to sell stolen property on Craigslist.

According to State Police:

Robert Baldwin, 22, of the Iselin section of town, and Linc Hamilton, 27, of the Avenel section were arrested Oct. 28 at MetLife Stadium “after they attempted to sell stolen property that was listed on Craigslist.”

On Oct. 24, the victim was working at a private home in Mount Arlington, when he realized his Apple laptop, Numark Mixtrack Pro II DJ Controller, and Marley headphones, worth a total of $2,390, had been stolen.

Detective Sgt. Edward Rufolo worked with Mount Arlington police on the case, and he found DJ controller listed for sale on Craigslist.

So, Rufolo posed as a buyer. He contacted the seller -- Baldwin -- who agreed to meet in the stadium parking lot to complete the sale.

Baldwin arrived at the stadium in a Nissan, driven by Hamilton. Baldwin got out of the car and Hamilton drove to a nearby spot in the parking lot.

Baldwin then met with the undercover detective and completed the sale. Once cash was exchanged, Baldwin was taken into custody.

Detectives realized Hamilton was in possession of the stolen headphones, and he was also arrested.

Detectives were able to recover the stolen laptop later that day.

Both men were were charged with receiving stolen property and released.

The Mount Arlington Police Department is investigating the initial theft.
