Woodbridge Police Charge Man With Bank Burglary, Cops Say

Police arrested a 60-year-old man who they say is responsible for a string of burglaries at banks in Middlesex and Monmouth counties.

Police arrested a 60-year-old man who they say is responsible for a string of burglaries at TD Banks in Monmouth and Middlesex counties.

Larry M. Boccio, Age 60, of Scholer Drive, Union Beach, was arrested by Hazlet detectives on Saturday. Boccio is charged in Hazlet with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, possession of handgun, attempted burglary, and possession of burglary tools.

Woodbridge police said he is charged with burglarizing the TD Bank in their town.

He is also facing burglary charges in Marlboro and Howell, and gun possession charges in Marlboro and Howell, according to jail records.

Last month in Howell, police said a man smashed a large window at the Route 9 branch, then forced his way into the bank, pried open a coin-counting machine and stole change.

According to a news release from Hazlet police:

Hazlet detectives had Boccio under surveillance for a few days and they got their break in their case Saturday.

Around 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Boccio return to TD Bank on Bethany Road in Hazlet, but he was taken into custody before “he could follow through with this burglary.”

Marlboro, Old Bridge, Howell, and Woodbridge detectives worked with Hazlet police on the case.

Union Beach police as well as the Monmouth and Middlesex counties prosecutors’ offices also assisted.

He is being held at the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, in lieu of bail set at a total of $250,000.
