Woodbridge Public Library celebrates STEM Month & NJ Makers Day

Celebrate Makers Day with the Woodbridge Public Library!

In celebration of New Jersey STEM Month the Woodbridge Public Library will celebrate the 5th annual New Jersey Makers Day! Please join us on Friday, March 22, from 2:30-4:30 PM at the Main Library for adult and teen activities and on Saturday, March 23, from 11:00-2:00 PM at the Main Library for projects geared to children and their families.

In addition, this year the Library's Outreach and Programming Staff have been awarded a 2019 NJ STEM Month Mini-Grant with funding generously provided by the Overdeck Family Foundation.

These events are one of many events held in support of New Jersey STEM Month. From 2015-2017, New Jersey hosted an annual New Jersey STEM Week to promote the state’s commitment to STEM excellence. Last year, in recognition and celebration of New Jersey’s world-class STEM economy, March was declared the inaugural New Jersey STEM Month. This year, Governor Murphy, via gubernatorial proclamation, and Assemblyman Zwicker, via legislative ceremonial resolution, have again, designated the entire month of March as New Jersey STEM Month. Last year, nearly 9,000 learners across New Jersey engaged in STEM Month activities.

“New Jersey STEM Month and Makers Days at the Woodbridge Public Library showcases the diversity and reach of STEM education, workforce and innovation in this state.” said Kim Case, Executive Director of the Research & Development Council of New Jersey and Manager of the New Jersey STEM Pathways Network. “Our goal this year is for 10,000 learners to be impacted and we appreciate all of the work of the New Jersey STEM community in helping us to achieve that goal.”

The month-long observance highlights the Garden State’s strong presence and accomplishments in STEM, including its industry, academic, government and non-profit sectors.
