Woodbridge Schools To Release Official 'Re-Entry Plan' Monday

At their Thursday night meeting the Woodbridge BOE was presented with some ideas of how school could look, should students return this fall:

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Will Woodbridge public school students return to school in person this fall? We will have to wait until Monday to officially find out.

That's because this Monday, June 20 the Woodbridge school district will officially release its re-entry proposal, which will allow for in-person classes, said superintendent Dr. Robert Zega on Friday.

No re-entry plan has been decided on yet or approved by the Woodbridge Board of Education. However, at their meeting Thursday night the BOE was presented with this proposal of how school would look, should students return this fall. All of these suggestions are in line with what the state DOE recommends.

The following was presented to the BOE by the newly formed Equity Commission, but nothing formal has been adopted:

  • All students must wear face coverings throughout the school day, unless doing so would inhibit the student’s health.
  • All school staff and visitors must wear face coverings throughout the entire school day, unless doing so would inhibit the individual’s health or the individual is under two years of age.
  • Staff and students will be screened every morning for entry into the school building.
  • Before entering, teachers will visually check all students for symptoms upon arrival (which may include temperature checks) and/or confirm with families that students are free of COVID-19 symptoms.
  • If a symptomatic staff or student is identified, all Woodbridge schools will have a designated isolation space until they can leave the premises.
  • Woodbridge schools will do contact tracing, which includes interviewing people with COVID-19 to identify who they had contact with, notifying contacts of their potential exposure, referring contacts for testing and monitoring contacts for signs and symptoms.
  • Students must wear face masks on buses, and the bus driver must also wear a face mask.
  • Sanitizing all school buses and all school facilities multiple times throughout the day.
  • Limiting how many students can use a bathroom at one time.

This is only the first reading of these policies, which require readings at two public meetings to be adopted.
