85% Of Wyckoff Parents Want Full Day Kindergarten
A recent survey sought to understand how many parents in the district were interested in full day kindergarten. Here's what they said.
WYCKOFF, NJ — Wyckoff Public Schools recently polled parents to gauge their interest in full day kindergarten, and what they discovered is that most people agree.
Of the 876 people who responded, 85 percent believe that the district should implement full day kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year. Just over 10 percent believe the district should not implement full day kindergarten.
Wyckoff residents made up 96 percent of the people who responded. Over 67 percent of those who filled out the survey have one or more kids who will reach kindergarten age within the next five years, while 63 percent currently have a child in kindergarten, or who completed kindergarten in Wyckoff.

District officials who crafted the survey also asked whether parents believe play-based learning has a positive effect on five and six-year-old students, over 98 percent said yes, and whether a full day program would lead to greater success in language arts and math in primary grades, 85 percent said yes.
