August Tax Bills Delayed

Tax rate approval is pending state aid certification.

Franklin Lakes residents may have a little extra time to pay their Aug. 1 property tax bill this year.

According to borough Tax Collector Philip Moore, the bill's mailing has been delayed pending the receipt of Statements of State Aid from Trenton. Once the statement arrives, the county should certified the borough's tax rate.

"We expect this will occur during the last week of July. Then we can proceed to print and mail the bills hopefully in early August," Moore said in a statement. "The grace period for the tax payment due Aug. 1 will be extended. The actual grace period extension date will be indicated on the bill or an attachment with the bill."
