Bergen Cooling Centers To Remain Open This Weekend
The heat index will increase anywhere from 108 to 116 on Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon.
Several Bergen County cooling centers will remain open this weekend to help give residents a respite from the sweltering temperatures that will continue to blanket North Jersey.
The cooling centers will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday:
- County administration building, 1 Bergen County Plaza, Hackensack
- Northwest Bergen Senior Activity Center, 46-50 Center St., Midland Park
- Southwest Bergen Senior Activity Center, 147 Hackensack St., East Rutherford
- Bergenfield Senior center, 293 Murray Hill Terrace
Also, public libraries, shopping centers, and recreation and senior centers can provide residents relief from high temperatures.

A hazardous weather outlook and an excessive heat warning have been issued statewide for the next three days as the heat index is supposed to zoom past 100 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
The heat index will increase anywhere from 108 to 116 on Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. The worst of it is supposed to happen in Ocean County, where the heat index could hit 116 in Toms River. The heat index is supposed to be highest at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
