Going by bus or train? Here's what you need to know:
Memorial Day Rails
Trains will operate on a weekend schedule on Memorial Day. Bicycles and Segways will not be allowed on trains.

Bus schedules will vary by route on Memorial Day.Â
- Terrace Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights between Lawerence Avenue and Columbus Street will be closed for its Memorial Day parade. Bus route 76 (Newark-Hackensack) will operate on a detour. Buses traveling toward Hackensack will travel from Terrace Avenue, make a left on Lincoln Street, right on Boulevard, continue on Summit Avenue, right on Essex Street, Hackensack, and then follow the regular route. Buses traveling toward Newark will travel on Essex Street and Polifly Road, continue on Essex Street, make a left on Summit Avenue, continue on Blvd., left on Lincoln Street, right on Terrace Avenue,  and then continue the regular route.
- The Boulevard in Hasbrouck Heights between Lincoln Avenue and Madison Avenue will be closed for a Memorial Day parade. Bus routes 163 (Ridgewood-New York) and 164 (Midland Park-Fair Lawn-New York) will operate on a detour. Buses traveling toward New York will travel from Boulevard and Madison Avenue, make a left on Madison Avenue, right on Terrace Avenue, make a right on Lincoln Avenue, right on Boulevard, and then follow the regular route. Buses traveling toward Paramus will travel from Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue, make a left on Terrace Avenue, left on Madison Avenue, right on Boulevard, and then continue the regular route.
- River Road in Fair Lawn will be closed between Morlot Avenue and Plaza Road for a Memorial Day parade. Bus route 171 (Fair Lawn-New York) will operate on a detour. Buses traveling toward the George Washington Bridge via Morlot Avenue will take a right on Plaza Road, and then continue the regular route. Buses traveling toward Paterson via Morlot Avenue will cross River Road, and then continue the regular route.
