Earth Month Rewind

At Patch, we believe conservation shouldn't be limited to one day a year. That's why we are celebrating Earth Month throughout April. Here's a look at the Green Patch stories we ran: 

We kicked the month off with ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle and introduced the Patch Marketplace, which can be used just like Craigslist or Freecycle, but on a hyperlocal scale.

On Mondays, we looked at the bigger picture of things including the health of our local watering hole, Franklin Lake, what it means to follow a "green" diet and how you can transform your home with a green home remodel. We also asked where does our garbage go? (and was surprized by the answers).

On Tuesdays, we took a look green businesses, including green dry cleaners, eco-friendly landscaping, and the green housecleaning industry (and shared our awesome all-purpose green cleaner). And we highlighted a local doll artist who makes dolls out of recycled materials.

On Wednesdays, we consulted Rockland Electric for a video series on controlling energy usage near , monitoring your checking and eliminating phantom loads from energy vampires.

On Thursdays, we held a Patch Prize Giveaway: Name That Lake contest. Check out these lakes from week 1, week 2, week 3 and week 4. There is still time to enter the contest and winners will be announced soon. The first five people to correctly identify the lakes win their choice of a Patch canvas tote or a Patch stainless water bottle.

On Fridays, we went room by room through the house with a Spring Clean Green, Where we gave you lots of great ideas for ways to declutter and donate and go green. Kitchen & Bath,  Living Spaces & Closets, Basement & Attic and Garage & Outdoor Spaces,
