FLOW Students Appointed to County Commission

Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan announced that 21 young women, including Larissa Rosen of Franklin Lakes (Bergen County Academy), Sarah Ebady of Wyckoff (Ramapo High School) and Amy Hibler of Oakland (Indian Hills High School) have been appointed to the Bergen County Junior Commission on the Status of Women. 

“I would like to congratulate each of the young women who have been chosen to serve on the Junior Commission on the Status of Women and look forward to hearing their comments on how we can best serve the residents of Bergen County,” said Donovan.  “These young women have already shown their commitment to serving their community. Their service on this commission will be beneficial to the pursuit of their school and career goals.”

In January 2011, the Commission requested that all high schools nominate one young woman from their current sophomore or junior class for possible appointment to the Junior Commission. A panel of judges evaluated all applications and selected 21 young women from each of the seven regions of the county.

The newly appointed Junior Commissioners will participate in a special community service project and numerous other activities throughout their term, according to Cynthia Celentano, Chairwoman, Bergen County Commission on the Status of Women (BCCOSW).

The appointees will serve one-year terms beginning September 15, 2011.
