Freeholder DiNicola Speaks To Mahwah Tea Party

State Senator Gerald Cardinale and Bergen County Freeholder and Bergen County Freeholder, Maura DeNicola of Franklin Lakes, gave brief talks and fielded questions from a few dozen members of the Mahwah Tea Party at the group’s monthly meeting at the .

The two focused on their efforts to “clean up” governmental bureaucratic practices that they said result in simple actions taking too long or costing too much money.

Cardinale used the example of a bill he is currently working to reinstate that would allow Bergen county municipalities quicker approval on infrastructural repairs.  The senator said that the government taking “as long as two years” to approve a municipality’s request to clean up a roadway is “unacceptable.”

DeNicola, after thanking Mahwah Tea Party members for helping elect her last November, cited county law enforcement and county school boards as two areas freeholders are looking to make “more efficient.”

“County government is too big,” she said, calling on residents to assist lawmakers by attending county meetings.

“We are on it, but we could use your help and communication is the key,” DeNicola said. 

The freeholder particularly cited the upcoming June 15 public hearing on the county budget, and general work sessions throughout the year. The Freeholder meeting schedule is available on the Bergen County website.
