Bergen Co. Woman Struck By Two Cars In Crosswalk Dies
A 76-year-old Hackensack woman died after she was hit by a truck, and then a trailer, while in a Hackensack crosswalk, police said.

HACKENSACK, NJ — A Hackensack woman is dead after she was hit by two vehicles while in a crosswalk at the intersection of Passaic Street and Summit Avenue, Hackensack police said.
Carol Ventura, 76, was crossing the intersection when she was first hit by a pickup truck turning east onto Passaic Street. She was then hit by the trailer of a landscaping truck heading west on Passaic, suffering fatal injuries, police said.
Ventura was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, but was later pronounced dead.

A 42-year-old Rochelle Park man was driving the pickup truck, and told police he had a green light when he turned onto Passaic Street. He didn't see Ventura until after he'd hit her with the vehicle, police said.
A 51-year-old Paramus man was driving the landscaping truck told police he also had a green light, and didn't see Ventura, who had already been hit and was lying in the roadway, police said.

Police said "it does appear that [Ventura] had the right of way."
The Hackensack Traffic Bureau is still investigating the collision, and no summonses have been issued at this time, police said.
