According to Big SNOW, Burton, a New York Giants fan, was excited for the park's opening and "often dreamed of a day he could take turns on the snow in the morning and catch a football game at the Meadowlands in the afternoon."

The group run "aims to commemorate this dream, as Jake passed before Big SNOW opened and made this concept a reality," the park said.

“Jake Burton Carpenter was an amazing person who did so much to grow and legitimize the sport of snowboarding. We all owe so much to Jake,” said Hugh Reynolds, vice president of marketing and sales, SNOW Operating. “Honoring his legacy by bringing people together through snowboarding, the sport we all love so much just feels right. We look forward to celebrating Jake’s life and work with our guests on Friday.”

The park - which opened in December 2019 - is a 180,000-square-foot, 16-story, climate-controlled facility that offers visitors a variety of experiences, from an indoor bunny hill for beginners to a black diamond trail for experts.
