Memorial Pond Project Enters Final Phase
Additional fundraising events planned as waterfall construction gets set to begin.

Work to create an aerating waterfall at the Franklin Lakes Memorial Pond will soon begin and the project is on track to be completed in time for the borough's 9/11 Commemoration this fall. Upcoming fundraising events are planned as well.
This final phase of the project pond was designed by Blue Meadow and Boswell Engineering. The pond was recently dredged and the NJDEP permits for the waterfall improvements have been issued.
This Friday and Saturday, Blue Meadow Farms, 378 Pulis Ave., will be open to the public as part of the Garden Conservancy's National Open Days Tour. Blue Meadows will have a donation box set up for The Franklin Lakes Memorial Pond Fund to help raise the additional funds needed for plantings and the perpetual maintenance of the pond. (The Garden Tour costs $5 for the Garden Conservancy.)

The Memorial Pond Committee is also hoping to hold a "Music Under The Stars" fundraiser this (and every) summer. Proceeds from the evening will go toward pond lighting and plantings, and perpetual maintenance of the pond.
The 9/11 Commemoration will be held Saturday, Sept. 10 at Memorial Pond, near the memorial listing the three borough residents who died in the World Trade Center attacks Thomas J. Cahill, a securities trader at Cantor Fitzgerald, Frank Deming, a practice director at Oracle Corp, and Steven Schlag, Cantor Fitzgerald, as well as Alexia Tsairis, who lost her life in the terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.

"The Franklin Lakes Community has built this Pond with their generous donations and we are asking for their support once again to complete the final phase."
