New Recycling Regulations For Wyckoff – Ask The Kids For Help

You got this Wyckoff! Wyckoff residents are now being asked to recycle the same way that the kids do at school. Starting July 16th/17th Township of Wyckoff residents will be following different guidelines for their weekly curbside recycling. The town is moving from a single stream system (one container with mixed recyclables) to separate containers. One bin will be for paper-based products and another will be for items that held liquid & food. July 16th/17th are the first dates that paper/cardboard will be collected. July 23rd/24th marks the date that clean glass, metal & plastics # 1, #2, #5 will be collected curbside. This collection pattern will repeat throughout the year. The schedule can be found at the following link: https://www.wyckoff-nj.com/home/news/immediate-recycling-changes.

Green Team member and past Township Environmental Commissioner, Janice Reynen, suggests residents take the lead from the kids. Refreshed recycling efforts were rolled out in each of the elementary schools in 2012 with the assistance of the town’s Environmental Commission and the school’s Green Ambassador clubs. Child friendly stickers created a Red, White and Blue three bin method to keep the recycling simple and the recyclables clean. Each classroom was set up with a labeled garbage can, a metal/aluminum/glass plastics recyclable bin and a paper/cardboard box.

The current recycling market is not accepting any recyclables that are not clean or papers that are dirty. Please continue to Join In with Wyckoff’s recycling program. A detailed recycling list and guidelines can be found at https://www.wyckoff-nj.com/recycling-trash/pages/recycle-right-follow-rules. Remember, dual recycling systems are cool!
