NJ's 1st Drive-Thru Chipotle Coming To Paramus

PARAMUS, NJ – New Jersey’s first-ever drive-thru Chipotle Mexican Grill is opening in Paramus this summer, according to a report.

The fast-casual Mexican restaurant is being built at 545 Route 17 South, next to a shopping plaza that has a Marshalls and Ashley HomeStore, NorthJersey.com reported. An opening date has not yet been announced.

In Paramus, there are also Chipotle locations at Garden State Plaza and on Route 4, by Spring Valley Road.

Chipotle first started adding drive-thru lanes - also known as "Chipotlanes" at some of is restaurants in 2018 and there are currently 25 restaurants with the feature, Forbes reported.

During an investor call in December 2019, company executives said the number of drive-thru lanes should grow to 60 by the end of 2020.

However, Chipotle’s drive-thru lanes differ from those at chains like Taco Bell, McDonald's and Wendy's, where people pull up to a menu board, place their order and wait in a line of cars.

Company executives said Chipotlanes are "what drive-thru should be" because customers pre-order their food via the mobile app or website and get a "pick-up time" to pull up and grab their food.
