WYCKOFF, NJ — Leslie Kappes, 70, of Hewitt, died June 30.
She was raised in Ridgewood and Saddle River.
She was a fine-art restorer in Wyckoff and a staff artist at a nonprofit cultural organization.

She taught English and was a cheerleading coach at Waldwick High School. She was also an advertising copywriter for 20 years. She published a novel in 2014.
Her lifelong art talent earned her a position as a fine-art restorer in Wyckoff and a staff artist at a nonprofit cultural organization.

She was the daughter of Charles and Jean Kappes.
She is survived by her longtime companion Michael Wafkowski; brother Robert; sister Pru; nieces Allison, Meredith, Katie, Cory, Colleen and Judy and nephew Taylor.
A private memorial will be celebrated in August.
