Parade & Critter Walk 9 a.m Monday

Nearly 30 "Critters" signed up to march in Memorial Day Parade

Twenty-five pets and two miniature horses will be marching in the Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 30, beginning at 9 a.m. on Commerce Street. The parade will proceed down Franklin Avenue to Veterans' Plaza where there will be a ceremony commemorating Franklin Lakes' military heroes.

This year, VFW Post 5702 has prepared a special memorial plaque listing Franklin Lakes residents who sacrificed their lives fighting for our country.

Don't miss the "critters" who will be dressed to impress as they will all be outfitted with special bandannas.

The "Critter Walk" is being held in memory of Dr. Cheryl Welch, V.M.D. of the Franklin Lakes Veterinary Hospital, and is part of the Mayor's Wellness Program. Participants will march in the parade with their pets to raise funds for the Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital's Critter Fund, which aids in the care of community animals, and the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer.

Following the parade, all the critters and their owners will go to the Municipal Field on DeKorte Drive (behind Borough Hall) to continue strutting their stuff.
