Pre-K Students Sing for Resident of The Bristal on 95th Birthday
Students Golda Och Academy a Jewish Day School in West Orange Sing Happy Birthday in Hebrew and English a to Holocaust Survivor on 95th BDay

Four and five year-old Pre-K students from the Golda Och Academy a Jewish Day School in West Orange, New Jersey, sang happy birthday in Hebrew and in English via ZOOM to 95year-old Holocaust Survivor, Reva “Rickie” Bernstein. Mrs. Bernstein was joined at The Bristal Assisted Living Community in Wayne, New Jersey, by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Steven Winfield and her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Shari Bernstein.

Rickie was born in Lithuania, the daughter of a Rabbi who did not survive the Holocaust. Mrs. Bernstein, her sister and mother were sent to the Stutthoff Concentration Camp which was located near Gdansk Poland. She and her sister eventually escaped to Russia and after the war made their way to the United States. She settled in West Virginia, where she taught Hebrew School at a synagogue. She moved to New York City where she met her husband Milton, they raised their family in Wayne.
