Raising an Optimistic Child – It’s Everyone’s Job to be Positive

Christian Health Care Center Professionals to Present at Community Health Program Hosted by The Valley Hospital Providing Tools for Parents

The Valley Hospital will host a free community health program, “Raising an Optimistic Child – It’s Everyone’s Job to be Positive,” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2018, at The Ridgewood Public Library, 125 North Maple Ave., Ridgewood.

Raising kids today comes with many challenges. But one important way parents can help their children live healthy and happy lives is to encourage them to think optimistically. A positive outlook on life can have widespread and long-lasting emotional, mental, and physical benefits. In fact, children who develop a “glass half full” attitude are often happier, more confident, do better in school, and are better equipped to overcome life’s difficulties. There are a number of easy strategies and tools that parents can use to teach their children to think optimistically and avoid negative feelings which can lead to anxiety, frustration, sadness, and more.

Presenters will be Bart Mongiello, LCSW, Director Outpatient Mental Health Services, Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) Counseling Center; and Susan Barrett, LCSW, Adolescent Therapist, CHCC Counseling Center.
