Ramapo Indian Hills Looks To Fill Board Of Education Vacancy

After an August resignation left an empty seat on the board, officials hope to interview new candidates by the end of the month.

OAKLAND, NJ — Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District is looking for someone to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education.

The board is seeking an Oakland resident to fill an unexpired term through to Dec. 31, 2020 due to the resignation of Teresa Kilday.

Kilday submitted her letter of resignation effective Aug. 13, 2020. The Board has 65 days to fill the vacancy.

Interested community members should submit a letter of interest, which may include a resume, to:

Letters are due by Friday, Sept. 25.

Letters of interest will be reviewed by the Board of Education, and interviews will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020.

According to the district, legal requirements for the position include:

  • hold U.S. citizenship and one year’s residency in the school district;
  • have no interest in any contract with, or claim against, the Board;
  • not hold office as mayor or member of the municipal governing body or, in the case of county school district, the county governing body;
  • be registered to vote in the district; and
  • be able to read and write.
