Ramapo Student Suspended on Drug-Related Charges
Fifth incident of a CDS-related suspension in the last 18 months.

An alleged attempt to sell an LSD knockoff to another student has gotten a Ramapo High School student suspended for the remainder of the year.Â
At last week's meeting, the Ramapo Indian Hills Board of Education unanimously approved resolution E6, which removed the adult student from the school for the remainder of the year. According to the resolution, he is not to associate with students, step on school property or participate in graduation and other senior class activities. His name "shall be stricken from the roll call."
"[O]n March 17, the student conspired with another student to sell a substance that he represented was LSD, a controlled dangerous substance, while at Ramapo HIgh School, and thereafter conspired with another student to destroy evidence and otherwise obstruct the investigation into this incident," the resolution states.Â

The student had a disciplinary hearing on April 7, where he "did not contest the charges as alleged in the record and waived his right to a full hearing."
This is the third time in the past 18 months that students have been suspended from Ramapo High School on drug-related charges.Â

Last June, were suspended through the first marking period of this year for allegedly distributing Xanax, a prescription anti-anxiety drug. Then in November, one of the students' suspension through the second marking period due to another incident involving Xanax.Â
In January 2010, the board suspended a student for the remainder of the school year for allegedly selling a  to another student. In that instance, a student was criminally charged after another student was taken to the hospital after reportedly eating a pot brownie from the suspended student.Â
District officials said they could not comment on student suspensions.Â
