Severe Storm Brings Power Outages, Closed Roads To Wyckoff

More than 300 people reported outages in the township, but officials say that isn't the only issue caused by the storm.

WYCKOFF, NJ — Hundreds of residents are without power after a severe storm knocked down trees and wires in Wyckoff, closing multiple roads. For those affected, some may have power restored as early as Tuesday night, while others will likely have to wait until Wednesday morning.

The Wyckoff Police Department warned residents to stay away from downed trees and wires while emergency services were responding to "multiple calls within the township."

Township officials later added that those downed trees and wires caused "fires and other hazardous conditions. Several streets were closed, and the township reported they were in communication with Rockland Electric.

Rockland reported that 2,257 customers were without power in Bergen County as of 8:07 p.m. on Tuesday, with 836 residents in Franklin Lakes, 315 in Oakland and 253 from Wyckoff. PSE&G reported an additional 14 customers without power.

Those 14 customers are estimated to have their power restored by 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, while Rockland customers could see the lights come back on as early as 10:18 p.m. on Tuesday.
