Sprucing Up Franklin Avenue
Business district gets a new tree; historical marker given a facelift.
Franklin Lakes celebrated Arbor Day a little late this year. On Thursday, the Shade Tree Committee, the Franklin Lakes Forester and borough officials came together to plant a tree on Franklin Avenue.
"Last year, the county regrettably had to remove two unsafe oaks," Council President Paulette Ramsey told Patch. The property owner gave permission to plant the new tree, which helps the borough maintain its Tree City designation. Â
Also at this location, the Franklin Lakes Historical Society repaired the Franklin Avenue Historical Marker, thanks to volunteers Ray and Trudy Ziegel.Â
