According to a Thursday news release, O&R expects "a vast majority of customers" who lost power as Tropical Storm Isaias hit the area Tuesday to have it back by Aug. 11 at 11 p.m.

The company said priority customers will be restored first, a list which includes hospitals and municipal organizations.

"Today, O&R proceeded on a number of important fronts to continue assessing damage, addressing public safety issues, clearing critical roads and restoring locations that provide critical services such as hospitals, nursing homes and police and fire stations," said the company.

"The next step is to move on to restore power to the lines and equipment that will bring power back to the most people in the fewest hours possible."

Over 120,000 customers have had their power restored since Tuesday, according to the company, which said the damage from Isaias ranks second only to Superstorm Sandy.

PSE&G

In a Thursday statement, PSE&G reported the company has restored power to 435,000 customers and has about 140,000 customers still without power.

The current expectation, the company said, is to have power restored to at least 85 percent of the remaining customers by Friday evening. However, there may be exceptions.

"Some difficult restorations may continue through the weekend — possibly into Monday," the company said.

According to the company, 3,300 employees have been working across the state to restore power, which includes tree crews and lineworkers from 15 states and Canada.

A PSE&G customer comfort station has been set up at the Bergen County Special Services Building, 275-285 Pascack Road, in Paramus for customers still without power to get ice and water on Thursday.

State distancing and health and safety protocols will be followed, and the company asks that, upon arrival, customers open the trunk of their car so the ice and water can be placed inside by an employee.

Here are other comfort station locations in the state:

  • Kennedy Center (Willingboro Recreation and Parks Department), 429 John F. Kennedy Way, Willingboro.
  • Lawrence Township Municipal Building, 2207 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville.
  • Lumberton Township Municipal Complex, 34 Municipal Drive, Lumberton.
  • Steven Adubato Sports Complex, near Branchbrook Park Drive & Bloomfield Avenue, Newark.
  • Warinanco Park Ice Skating Rink1 Park Drive, Roselle.
