The Week in Review: Official Kick Off to Summer

From Memorial Day to the Prom, and helicopters to Housewives, here's a look at all that went on in Franklin Lakes last week.

The big news item of the last week was Gov. Chris Christie's use of a state helicopter to attend his son's baseball game in Montvale, and his subsequent payment of the trip. Patch broke the story with a simple photo on Tuesday, and quickly became an item of national interest.

Here are some other stories you may have missed:

The week began with a parade, a Memorial Day ceremony, and the borough's first Critter Walk. This year, VFW Post 5702 presented the borough with a plaque commemorating the 13 men from Franklin Lakes who died in service to our country. Patch also uncovered the history of the Masker Memorial and where its essential elements now reside.
