Whiz Kid of the Week: Trevor Romano
Franklin Lakes student receives highest athletic award at private K-9 Tuxedo Park School

Trevor Romano of Franklin Lakes, a freshman at Tuxedo Park School, received the Lorillard Cup for best male athlete in the school. The award, named after Tuxedo Park’s founder Pierre Lorillard, recognizes the best overall male athlete in the school who exhibits outstanding athleticism, sportsmanship, and loyalty to athletics.
This year, Trevor was elected by his teammates to be a captain all three sports seasons: tennis, squash and the undefeated boys’ lacrosse team. As one of the leading scorers on the lacrosse team, Trevor had the ability to “flip a switch,” Coach Nick Tsilibes said, “going from calm, cool, and calculating one second, to unstoppable the next. On the lacrosse field, this quality inspires awe teammates and instills fear in opponents.”
Trevor’s leadership and sportsmanship were evident in all the sports he played this year. Coach Tsilibes revealed, “When the opposing squash team showed bad sportsmanship, in a sport where honesty and fairness are expected, Trevor’s calm and patient demeanor helped his teammates deal with the difficult situation in an appropriate and respectful way.”
