Winter Storm Could Bring Snow, Freezing Rain Tuesday

Forecast says one to two inches of snow possible late Monday into Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory warning of snow, sleet and rain Tuesday.

The advisory, issued Monday afternoon, will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. One to two inches of snow is possible in Franklin Lakes tonight and will meet with freezing rain Tuesday, forecasts say.

Snow and freezing rain will hit before noon Tuesday, then more after 3 p.m., according to the weather service.

Tuesday's morning commute could prove messy with slippery roads and limited visibility possible, the weather advisory says.

 The full forecast from the National Weather Service is below:

Tonight: Snow, mainly after midnight. Low around 22. East wind between 5 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible. 

Tuesday: Snow and freezing rain before 9 a.m., then rain. High near 40. Northeast wind between 10 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.2 of an inch possible. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. 

Tuesday Night: A chance of rain. Cloudy, with a low around 30. North wind between 7 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. 

Wednesday: A slight chance of rain before 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. West wind between 6 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
