Wyckoff Issues Outdoor Dining Guidance, Fast Tracks Applications

WYCKOFF, NJ — Wyckoff will be joining the list of New Jersey cities and towns offering a helping hand to restaurants as they prepare to open for outdoor dining, beginning Monday at 6 a.m.

According to a resolution adopted by the township committee on June 4, restaurants wishing to open are required to fill out an application which includes a map and general layout of tables and chairs, and provides a narrative and plan of relevant information describing the method of service.

Like other municipalities, Wyckoff will allow restaurants to utilize seating on adjacent properties with the consent of the property owner, but they may also apply for areas that are now being used as public right of ways for pedestrian or vehicular passing or parking.

Applications submitted for outdoor dining with these plans will be reviewed within three business days by the Wyckoff Police Department Traffic Safety Officer and Wyckoff Fire Department for any safety issues.

These relaxed requirements will go into effect on June 15, according to the resolution, and will be terminated on December 1, 2020. However, there is a clause that says the resolution may be extended by the township committee by future resolution.

Gov. Phil Murphy said earlier this month bars and restaurants can open for outdoor dining beginning Monday at 6 a.m.

Employees of the establishments will have to wear masks, as will patrons who wish to go inside at any point. Tables will be placed 6-feet apart, and parties will be limited to a maximum of eight people.
