Wyckoff Roadwork Will Protect Electric Infrastructure From Storms
Beginning in September, a roadwork project will improve electrical infrastructure, as to protect it from future storm damage.
WYCKOFF, NJ — Wyckoff will receive a "storm hardening enhancement" through a roadwork project slated to begin in September.
So what's that mean?
Rockland Electric Company will start this work in both Wyckoff and Allendale, targeted at improving service reliability and strengthening the electric infrastructure system from storm damage and car accidents.

During this roadwork, traffic delays are expected and the Wyckoff Police Department will monitor posted traffic detours and safe speeds, according to the township.
Work will be performed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be conducted in the Bergen County right-of-way.
The final phase of the project will connect a new underground electric system into the existing overhead system, and is not expected to impact traffic.
This phase will begin once excavation concludes in mid-November, and will continue through December.
The township hinted that the work was important as hurricanes, tropical storms and Nor'easters have been impacting the area with seemingly increased frequency since Superstorm Sandy.
"We all remember winter storms Quinn and Riley in March of 2018. However, since Superstorm Sandy in October 2012, our area has experience the effects of seven Hurricanes, four Tropical Storms and four Nor Easters," read the message.
