Nor'easter: Snow Day At Wyckoff Schools, Virtual Learning For RIH

Students in Wyckoff Public Schools will get a day off Thursday after the district announced a snow day. Remote learning resumes Friday.

WYCKOFF, NJ — Wyckoff Public Schools students will get the chance to sleep in, find a sledding hill or relax Thursday, as the district cancelled classes ahead of the forecasted snow storm.

According to the district, remote learning is slated to resume Friday.

In the Ramapo Regional High School District, virtual learning will continue on Thursday, but with a catch.

"In the event of any power outages in the FLOW communities please relax and enjoy your day," read a notice from both Indian Hills and Ramapo High School.

Wednesday's storm could produce dangerous road conditions and knock out power in many parts of the state, as experts predict up to a foot of snow or more.

Of greater concern to students in Wyckoff is access to consistent power and Wi-Fi, as the district shifted to remote learning until Jan. 11.

During a Wednesday news conference with Gov. Phil Murphy, New Jersey Board of Public Utilities Director James Giuliano said he expects to encounter outages during the course of the storm as high winds could knock down trees and damage power lines.
